Holidays in St Lucia

A lush tropical island under the Caribbean sun, St Lucia is everything travellers to the Caribbean dream about; sandy beaches bordered by palm trees, tropical rain forest with natural cascading waterfalls, picturesque bays and colourful villages.

St. Lucia

What the tiny island of St. Lucia lacks in size, it more than makes up for in beauty. Its dramatic twin conically shaped hills, the Pitons, rise out of the clear Caribbean Sea, sheltering magnificent rain forests where wild orchids, giant ferns, and birds of paradise flourish. It is home to brilliantly-plumed tropical birds, including endangered species like the indigenous St. Lucia parrot, known locally as the "Jacquot," the White Breasted Thrasher, the St. Lucia Peewee, and the St. Lucia Oriole.

Drop by for a visit at the Soufriére Estate's Diamond Botanical Gardens, Waterfall and Mineral Baths, a true Caribbean Eden, offering lush greenery and many colourful flowers where tourists can stroll at ease. The beautiful waterfall surrounded by rust brown colour rocks and tropical greens is nature’s composition in its magnificent splendour reaching out to soothe the senses. Even the waters of the mineral baths have their own healing power. They are known to be therapeutic for your body.

St LuciaSt. Lucia also boasts of the world's only “drive in volcano.” Mt. Soufrière, once an active volcano, erupted 40,000 years ago, collapsing in on itself. Now you can walk inside the volcano among sulphur springs and hissing vapour jets. Fresh rain water also collects in the boiling crater and runs down the mountainside in six waterfalls - the lowest being Diamond Falls, east of Soufrière.

St. Lucia's warm clear waters and numerous spectacular reefs and marine life offer the perfect underwater world waiting to be discovered by divers. Explore the underwater haunts of Anse Cochon and Anse Chastanet reefs and even an old sunken ship!  The island also has a number of boat charter operations which offer whole and half day deep sea fishing excursions. Catch maybe a mackerel or two, white marlin, barracuda, perhaps even a sailfish or a kingfish!

And if you’re looking for another activity other than those offered by the sea, St. Lucia has two golf courses for you to enjoy. The Sandals La Toc and the Cap Estate Public Course, which is run by the St Lucia Golf and Country Club, offers a nine-hole course, which can also be played as 18. The clubhouse even has a fully-stocked bar and a pro shop.

In St Lucia, there is just so many things that one can see and do. With its juxtaposition of green hills, clear blue water, and black and white sand beaches, St Lucia truly is the “Helen of the West Indies.”
